VALVE BODY

1962 T0 1966 TRANSMISSIONS USED A CABLE  CONTROL, THESE VALVE BODIES OBVIOUSLY CANT BE USED IN LATER CASES. NOR CAN LATER VALVE BODIES BE USED IN EARLIER CASES.

IN 1967 THE CONTROL WAS CHANGED TO A LINKAGE SYSTEM. THE MANUAL CONTROL LEVER WAS MOVED TO OUTSIDE THE MAIN CASE AND HAD THE THROTTLE PRESSURE LINKAGE PASSING DOWN THE CENTER.

FROM 1966 TO 1969 THE VALVE BODY KICK DOWN FROM 3rd TO 2nd WAS AT FULL THROTTLE.  A RETRO FIT KIT IS NOW AVAILABLE TO GIVE A PART THROTTLE KICK DOWN FOR THOSE YEARS. CHRYSLER CHANGED THE VALVE BODY DESIGN AFTER THIS TO GIVE THE PART THROTTLE KICK DOWN.

NON LOCKUP VALVE BODY WITH PART THROTTLE KICK DOWN

FROM 1978 ON SOME 727 TRANSMISSIONS USED A LOCK UP CONVERTOR. THE PHOTO BELOW SHOWS A LOCK UP VALVE BODY FROM THE TOP. THE “S” SHAPED PIPE AND THE BLOCK IT GOES INTO (at the bottom) ARE THE ADDITIONS. THIS VIEW CAN ONLY BE SEEN AFTER REMOVING THE VALVE BODY FROM THE TRANSMISSION.
